|Title||Postdoctoral Research Associate|
|Organization||University of Wisconsin-Madison|
We have two postdoctoral research associate positions open. We seek highly motivated and outstanding scholars to join our diverse team of scientists. Both positions are part of an NIH-funded Center of Excellence for Translational Research (CETR) at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the Pharmaceutical Sciences Division. The CETR uses an interdisciplinary approach to discover and develop new natural products for the treatment of infectious diseases; in particular, we focus on discovering new compounds with activities against multi-drug resistant Gram-negative pathogens and multi-drug resistant fungal pathogens. The CETR has the necessary infrastructure to support large scale production of leads for full in vivo evaluation including pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics. The University of Wisconsin-Madison has state-of-the-art NMR facilities. Please see https://nmrfam.wisc.edu for more details. Additionally, we have excellent infrastructure for mass spectrometry including a new Q-ToF in the lab of the PI (Tim Bugni). UW-Madison has excellent resources for career development of postdocs and is an exciting place to work. The collegiality combined with the vast diversity of cutting-edge research makes UW an outstanding environment to train as a postdoc, regardless of career direction.
Prior to starting this position, candidates must have earned a PhD in a natural products related field. Preference will be given to those candidates that have expertise in either genomics or NMR and MS as well as experience isolating and elucidating the structures of natural products. Depending on the type of expertise, we are happy to cross train scientists that would like to learn new skills. For example, someone with a background in genomics might want to apply their expertise in genomics while learning more about NMR and MS or vice versa. Importantly, the successful candidate will be required to work within a multi-PI group environment across multiple departments on campus. This will require excellent communication and organization skills. Applicants should send a cover letter and a CV including three references to Dr. Fan Zhang (firstname.lastname@example.org).
