Position title
Postdoctoral Research Associate; The Molecular Targets Program (MTP) of the National Cancer Institute’s Center for Cancer Research
Description

Job Description - Postdoctoral Research Position The Molecular Targets Program (MTP) of the National Cancer Institute’s Center for Cancer Research (NCI’s CCR) has a postdoctoral position available in its Natural Products Chemistry Section. The position is for isolation and structure elucidation of secondary metabolites from a variety of natural sources (microbes, plants, marine organisms, etc.) through a combined approach integrating both bioassay-guided fractionation and modern metabolomic methodologies. The laboratory’s areas of interest include the identification of bioactive natural products with novel structures and unique mode of actions targeting cancer. The selected candidate must have demonstrated expertise in utilization of modern chromatographic (HPLC, LC-MS, etc.) and spectroscopic (NMR, HRMS, IR, CD, etc.) techniques to purification and structure elucidation of low-yield natural products with challenging structural and/or absolute configuration problems. Expertise in one or more of the following areas is highly desired: natural products SAR studies by synthesis/semi-synthesis and computational modeling, hand-on experience in tissue and microbiological culture, and bioinformatic analysis and activation of silent/cryptic microbial biosynthetic gene clusters. The position is located at the NCI-Frederick Maryland campus. The candidates must have a Ph.D. in natural products chemistry, pharmacognosy, medicinal chemistry, pharmaceutical chemistry, or a related discipline from an accredited research institution within the last three years. The fellowship duration is 5 years based on performance and yearly evaluations. The fellowship is not restricted to U.S. citizens. The fellowship stipend starts at $ 59,900 per annum and is determined based on qualifications and years of relevant experience.
