The Natural Products Branch at the National Cancer Institute will have a postdoctoral position available in late 2021. The position will be located at the NCI-Frederick Maryland campus. Based on performance and yearly evaluations, the duration of the fellowship will be for 5 years. The fellowship is not restricted to U.S. citizens. The fellowship stipend starts at ~$54,950 per annum and is determined based on qualifications and years of relevant experience. This position is subject to a background investigation. The postdoctoral research associate will assist with the isolation and structure elucidation of biologically active natural products identified in a variety of assays targeting cancer, infectious disease, and addiction-related endpoints.
•PhD in Chemistry with a strong emphasis on natural product isolation and structure elucidation.
•Proficient in NMR and mass spectrometry instrumentation and data interpretation.
•Knowledge of separation techniques for the isolation of natural products.
•Expert knowledge of natural product databases.
•Ability to troubleshoot and maintain liquid chromatography systems.
•Experience in the use of bioinformatic tools for the analysis of MS and NMR spectroscopic data.
•Knowledge of density functional theory calculations.
•Ability to perform semi-synthetic reactions on natural products.
•Experience with large- and gram-scale isolation of natural products.
