Solicitation of nominations for 2025 ASP Fellows

January 6, 2025 by pharmacognosy

Deadline February 15th

This year, a new process for nomination of new ASP Fellows has been approved by the ASP Executive Committee which allows for open nomination of ASP Fellows from any member of the ASP. By way of this letter, a new committee appointed by ASP leadership (the ASP Fellows Committee; AFC) invites the nomination of deserving ASP Fellow candidates for 2025.

Fellows of the American Society of Pharmacognosy are members of the Society who have demonstrated continuing, exceptional contributions to the sciences promoted by the ASP and have records of sustained high-level achievement within their subdisciplines. ASP Fellows include all previous ASP Norman R. Farnsworth Research Achievement Award recipients (formerly known as the ASP Research Achievement Award) who remain in good standing with the Society but may also be appointed based on nominations and subsequent recommendations to the ASP Executive Committee. ASP Fellows serve as an informal advisory body to the ASP in scientific and professional matters of importance to the ASP and to natural products research.  Fellows are also charged to serve active roles as advocates for the ASP and the natural products field. Fellows are anticipated to serve lifetime terms. The number of Fellows is limited to 5% of the membership as of the end of the previous annual meeting. There are currently 42 ASP Fellows (for the complete list, visit (https://www.pharmacognosy.us/what-is-pharmacognosy/the-asp-fellows/).

The AFC welcomes nominations from the ASP membership at large that illuminate the contributions of members who fulfill the above criteria. Candidates for consideration through this process should be existing members of the ASP.

Nominations may be submitted by any ASP member, and must include a nominating letter, a CV of the candidate, and at least one additional supporting letter from an individual familiar with the candidate’s scientific accomplishments. Self-nominations are not considered appropriate. Nominations will carry over for two years. The AFC will evaluate nominations annually and make recommendations to the ASP Executive Committee.  Nominations can be submitted through the online ASP Fellow Nomination Form.  The deadline for nomination of candidates this year is February 15, 2025. Please feel free to reach out to any of the members of the AFC with any questions or suggestions.

Amy Wright, Chair, ASP Fellows Committee

Other AFC members: Nadja Cech, Ikhlas Khan
