Job Description - The Molecular Targets Program (MTP) of the National Cancer Institute’s Center for Cancer Research (NCI’s CCR) has 1 postdoctoral position available in its Natural Products Chemistry Section (NPCS). The position is for isolation and structure elucidation of secondary metabolites from a variety of natural sources (microbes, plants, marine organisms, etc.) through bioassay-guided fractionation. The laboratory’s areas of interest include the identification and optimization of bioactive natural products targeting cancer. The selected candidate must have demonstrated expertise in utilization of modern chromatographic (HPLC, LC-MS, etc.) and spectroscopic (NMR, HRMS, IR, CD, etc.) techniques for purification and structure elucidation of bioactive natural products with challenging structural and/or stereochemical problems. Hands-on experience in one or more of the following areas is highly desired: NMR instrumentation and maintenance, natural product synthesis/semi-synthesis, metabolomics, and microbial culture. The position is located at the NCI-Frederick Maryland campus. The candidate must have a Ph.D. in natural products chemistry, pharmacognosy, medicinal chemistry, pharmaceutical chemistry, or a related discipline from an accredited research institution within the last three years. The maximal duration of the fellowship is 5 years based on performance and yearly evaluations. The fellowship is not restricted to U.S. citizens. The fellowship stipend starts at $67,200 per annum and is determined based on qualifications and years of relevant experience. Applicants should submit a cover letter, CV with bibliography, and three letters of reference to Dr. Lin Du (Lin.Du@nih.gov), and Cc: MTP_PostDoc@nih.gov.More information about the Molecular Targets Program is available here:https://ccr.cancer.gov/molecular-targets-program.This position is subject to background investigation. The NIH is dedicated to building a diversecommunity in its training and employment programs; underrepresented minority candidates areencouraged to apply.DHHS, NIH, and NCI are Equal Opportunity Employers
