Description

Job Description - This seeks a motivated Associate Scientist to join the human safety team supporting Fabric and Home Care. The primary role is to provide human safety support for project teams to progress consumer testing, clinical/preclinical safety studies, and resolution of real and/or perceived human safety issues.

Responsibilities - Key responsibilities are to support current and/or upstream R&D and business initiatives for F&HC in one or more categories, on a regional and global basis as required. Owner of the knowledge for category project including key technologies/ingredients, potential safety concerns and regulatory constraints, as well as consumer behavior information in regions where product is to be distributed or sold, market safety profile, safety related external issues etc. Expected to collaboratively design, execute, and interpret preclinical and clinical safety data to ensure there is robust safety program to establish consumer safety of regional and/or globally marketed F&HC products. Partner within and across the organization and leverage expertise to enable timely, scientifically found safety guidance and resolution of safety issues and external challenges as they arise.

Qualifications - M.S. in toxicology, pharmacology or equivalent bioscience background with risk assessment training/experience is preferred although other life science degrees will be considered. Excellent communication skills are needed in order to convey positions clearly and explain technical issues in a manner suitable to a variety of internal customers as well as to external organizations. The individual needs to collaborate effectively and build strong relationships within the organization and with a variety of partners across functions, regionally and globally. Candidates must excel in an environment with a rapid pace and constantly shifting priorities.Understanding of potential toxicities, mechanisms of action, and target tissues of specific product active ingredients and inactive ingredients for products supported. Ability to identify potential safety issues with new or currently marketed products and manage any risks/issues in a proactive manner.Understanding of GLP and GCP regulations that govern product development and conduct of product and ingredient safety evaluation, both human and animal testing. Ability to leverage this understanding toward the placement and interpretation of safety studies.
