Job Description - The Scientific Communications Internship provides postgraduate and/or doctorate-level students the opportunity to be mentored by a pharmacist, entrepreneur, and clinical researcher, Dr. Swathi Varanasi. Interns will learn how to evaluate and translate scientific literature surrounding integrative medicine and natural medicines into consumer-friendly, evidence-based blog content, social media content, and related deliverables. This internship also provides professional opportunities to participate in educational workshops and develop as a thought leader in integrative medicine.

Responsibilities - Responsibilities (required):Scientific Communications – Blog (1-2 Positions):Retrieve, analyze and interpret the professional primary and secondary literature sources to produce consumer-facing educational contentEvaluate components of research literature, including study design, methodology, results, conclusions, and clinical significance to include in scientifically-driven blog articles.Brainstorm health and wellness topics for articles (1,000+ words) to be submitted on a monthly basis. Deliverable due dates will be determined by the internship DirectorRevise content as per the SCI Director's edits and suggestions in a timely mannerUtilize several types of print and online resources to write evidence-based articles and cite them appropriately in American Medical Association (AMA) styleScientific Communications – Social Media (1-2 Positions):Research and understand the social media landscape including but not limited to Meta (e.g., Facebook / Instagram), TikTok, LinkedIn, and Twitter (X) in the context of educational content Brainstorm and storyboard educational topics across health and wellness using the Element Apothec Blog and current trends to guide content executionLiaise with the Element Apothec Social Media / Email Marketing Team to ensure cohesive storytelling across departments Create engaging, exciting content across platforms with the goal of educating consumers / patients, medical practitioners, and healthcare providers Professional Development (optional): Book club on topics relating to integrative healing modalities including but not limited to cannabis, herbal medicine, homeopathy, meditation, and functional medicineMonthly workshops ​​designed to help support the implementation of specific procedures, strategies, or activities to advance student goals, character, and career developmentShadowing opportunities to learn more about start-ups and entrepreneurship in the growing health and wellness categoryNetworking to build strong relationships with other interns and company personnel
